Intel Xeon Platinum 8380: 2021 vs. 2022 Performance For Ubuntu, Clear Linux, CentOS Stream

For some of the HPC benchmarks there was little change in performance thanks to Intel's great tuning and launch-day support for Linux....

Meanwhile in some of the benchmarks where Clear Linux was already noticeably faster than CentOS Stream and Ubuntu last year, its lead has only widened with the latest state of Intel's rolling-release high performance Linux distribution. At least in the Leukocyte benchmark for example there are some small gains seen since last year for both CentOS Stream and Ubuntu.

With CentOS Stream 9 now being out to replace the old CentOS Stream 8 and its aging EL8 compiler toolchain with GCC 8.4 by default and the like, for some workloads CentOS Stream 9 is now much more competitive to the other modern Linux distributions.

In many of the benchmarks it's only incremental gains over the launch state last year for the Xeon Platinum 8380 processors on Linux.

Or CentOS Stream 8 to CentOS Stream 9 finally tightening things up there with the much newer software versions.
