Running Xonotic with high quality settings at a 25600 x 1600 resolution showed the NVIDIA graphics cards running close under Windows 8.1 and Ubuntu Linux when using the proprietary drivers. For NVIDIA, the GeForce GTX 680 remained faster under Linux than Windows. When it came to running the AMD Radeon graphics cards, the Windows 8.1 performance was noticeably faster across all of the graphics cards tested than with Catalyst for Linux. The only exception was the R9 270X where the Windows OpenGL support was unstable, but for all other ASICs the Windows performance was superior.

With ultra quality settings, the NVIDIA Windows vs. Linux performance remained comparable while for AMD Radeon GPUs of multiple generations, the Windows Catalyst driver was much faster than on Ubuntu Linux.
