The SQLite performance right out of the gates was faster with DragonFlyBSD 5.3-DEVELOPMENT over the 5.2 release, either due to HAMMER2 improvements or the variety of other ongoing kernel optimizations led by Matthew Dillon and his gang.

Compile Bench was also showing some gains with the 5.3 development series.

In some CPU-bound workloads the performance was effectively the same with the same compiler being used between releases. DragonFlyBSD 5.3-DEVELOPMENT has recently begun work on supporting GCC 8.

The performance in FFTW though was significantly higher using the 5.3 development build.
