Corsair DHX 4GB DDR2-800MHz

System Setup:

Our system for testing this Corsair DHX 4GB DDR2-800MHz consisted of an AMD Phenom 9500 Quad-Core processor, ECS 790GXM-A motherboard, ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB graphics card, Western Digital 160GB SATA 2.0 hard drive, and SilverStone Zeus ST75ZF 750W power supply. On the software side was Ubuntu 8.04 (x86_64) with the Linux 2.6.24 kernel and Catalyst 8.9.

For testing this memory we had run it at DDR2-800MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings and at the same frequency but its tighter 4-4-4-12 timings allowed by this RAM. When overclocking this Corsair XMS2 memory we were able to push it up to speeds of DDR2-1120MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings and 2.1V for the memory before losing stability. With each memory configuration we had used Memtest86+ v2.01 for verifying stability.

For our quantitative tests we had used the Phoronix Test Suite with our memory test suite. The tests used consisted of Nexuiz, LAME MP3 encoding, Mencoder, GnuPG, OpenSSL, SQLite, RAMspeed, and Bandwidth. We had used OCZ's ReaperX HPC DDR2-800 (2 x 2GB) memory for comparison and ran at 800MHz with 4-4-4-15 and then 5-5-5-15 timings. With the Corsair DHX 4GB memory we ran it at 800MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings and then 4-4-4-12 timings. Additionally, we had also run the Phoronix Test Suite on this memory when it was running at 1067MHz with 5-5-5-15 timings.
