DragonFlyBSD 6.0 Is Performing Very Well Against Ubuntu Linux, FreeBSD 13.0
In some cases Ubuntu 21.04 still has a hefty lead over the tested BSDs.
The kernel micro-benchmark results were mixed.
Of the tested BSDs, DragonFlyBSD 6.0 was performing quite admirably and I was quite surprised myself to see if often now outperforming FreeBSD 13.0.
If taking the geometric mean of all the benchmark results conducted between both real-world and synthetic performance tests, DragonFlyBSD 6.0 manages to edge past Ubuntu 21.04 as the fastest of the operating systems tested on this Intel Core i9 workstation. FreeBSD 13.0 meanwhile was performing similar to the prior DragonFlyBSD 5.8.3 release and not too far behind Ubuntu. FreeBSD 13.0 with its default LLVM Clang compiler was outperforming the GCC based benchmark results.
