A Look At The Clear Linux Performance Over The Course Of 2018
The R benchmark performance improved in 2018 on Clear Linux.
The OpenSSL performance has remained stable.
The Tensorflow performance on the CPU has improved a bit over the course of 2018.
Redis is one of the workloads that was measurably impacted by Spectre/Meltdown and does still take a hit from these security mitigations.
Ending things out from this brief 2017 vs. 2018 benchmark comparison, the SciKit-Learn performance saw slightly better speed out of using the very latest Clear Linux.
Aside from some I/O performance hits this year, the performance of Clear Linux was either the same or in many instances did see a few percentage point improvements on top of its already competitive performance from the following year. Coming up in the days ahead will be our other year-end comparisons, including with other Linux distributions and the other areas of open-source software we pay close attention to like the open-source GPU drivers.
