The only other laptop competing with the ASUS Zenbook Prime was the Lenovo ThinkPad W510. The W510 has the Core i7 720QM "Clarksfield" processor that has four cores plus Hyper Threading (eight logical threads) and tops out at a 2.8GHz clock frequency. The Intel Core i7 3517U "Ivy Bridge" processor used here has two cores plus Hyper Threading (four logical threads) but only has a 1.9GHz clock speed with 3.0GHz turbo frequency. While the i7-720QM proved to be competitive, the CPU has a 45-Watt TDP where as the Zenbook Prime's i7-3517U has just a 17-Watt TDP. This Ivy Bridge ultrabook easily wins with its performance-per-Watt.
