Windows 10 vs. Ubuntu 16.04 Graphics Performance With Radeon Software, AMDGPU-PRO, AMDGPU+RadeonSI
Before getting to the Steam Linux benchmarks, first our traditional Unigine tests for just putting some perspective on the performance:
Unigine Heaven performed the same on Windows 10 with Radeon Software as it did with AMDGPU-PRO on Ubuntu 16.04. For both Heaven runs, the fully open-source driver was marginally slower than these closed-source results.
Unigine Valley was a similar story to Heaven with the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver stack lagging behind while the Radeon Software and AMDGPU-PRO performance being close to the same, which would be expected since they are derived from the same OpenGL driver code.
The open-source Xonotic first person shooter was running about the same speed across all three tested combinations.
