Unigine Sanctuary shows the open-source Radeon Gallium3D drivers being multiple times faster than Catalyst, but this is only an illusion as in reality the R600 Gallium3D driver was incorrectly rendering this demanding OpenGL tech demo. Meanwhile, the Catalyst performance between Windows and Linux was similar.

Unigine Tropics also rendered incorrectly on the Radeon Gallium3D driver (though with more recent Git since the time of our testing, the demos should be fixed by default thanks to the driconf tunables now being applied for non-i965 drivers) which explained the good performance numbers for the open-source stack. Between Windows and Linux Catalyst, the results were close but the Windows performance was generally a bit higher.
