The RadeonSI Gallium3D driver will surely be made faster with time, and can potentially already be boosted by the soon-to-be-out Linux 3.10 kernel, but for now the R600 Gallium3D driver will deliver much better results.

With these high-end Southern Island GPUs performing so poorly on the open-source driver, it would likely be very frightening to see how slow the lower-end Radeon HD 7000 series parts are running.
