AMD Kabini HD 8210: RadeonSI Gallium3D Can Outperform Catalyst
With OpenArena the Mesa 10.2-devel upgrade along with the move to the Linux 3.14 kernel had noticeably boosted the performance of the Radeon HD 8210 graphics found on the E1-2100 APU. With this very latest configuration, the graphics performance almost matched the Catalyst driver for OpenArena 0.8.5.
With the newer OpenArena 0.8.8, the Catalyst driver was much faster than the open-source driver but at least the latest code is moving in the right direction.
With the World of Padman game that's not taxing at all with modern GPUs, the open-source graphics stack with the Linux 3.14 kernel was faster than the Catalyst blob.
Reaction Quake 3 on RadeonSI Gallium3D still has a ways to catch up with the Catalyst driver, but at least there are performance improvements out of the newest Mesa and Linux kernel code.
