With NASA's NPB embarrassingly parallel problem, the Core i9 10980XE with its 18 cores / 36 threads actually comes out ahead of the Threadripper 3960X's 24 cores / 48 threads, but the Threadripper 3970X is an easy 20% faster.

In the case of Rodinia's LavaMD scientific workload it's interesting to see the Threadripper 3960X pulling in right behind the larger Threadripper 2990WX while the Core i9 10980XE falls short of the Threadripper 2970WX.

With Rodinia's computational fluid dynamics test, the Threadripper 3960X does come out even ahead of the previous Zen+ 32-core Threadripper part.
