Next up is a look at the performance-per-dollar. Had Intel stuck to their usual trend of pricing their top-of-the-line Core i9 CPUs at $1800~2000 USD, the new Threadripper CPUs would easily sweep the testing. But with Intel having effectively halved the i9-10980XE price to $979 USD, it does actually offer competitive pricing against AMD's current wares.

The Core i9 10980XE tended to deliver better performance-per-dollar compared to the 3960X/3970X at least if the launch prices remain. Unfortunately we were never sampled with the Ryzen 9 3950X that is priced closer to the i9-10980XE for seeing how that comparison would have pointed.
