AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X / 3960X Linux Benchmarks
Now a look at the performance-per-Watt graphs based upon the real-time AC wall power consumption using a WattsUp Pro power meter interfacing with the Phoronix Test Suite for polling the power usage under each test profile.
While the Threadripper 3960X/3970X had a 280 Watt TDP compared to the 165 Watts with the i9-10980XE, the Zen 2 Threadrippers still tended to deliver the best perf-per-Watt in most multi-threaded workloads. These 7nm Threadripper processors still showed a significant improvement over the previous-generation Threadripper processors.
Here's a look at the overall AC system power consumption throughout the 100+ benchmarks carried out.
