Four Years After Launch, AMD Kaveri Sees Huge Performance Boost On Linux

Once seeing how well the Kaveri performance has improved, I then fired off a second round of before/after tests, mostly at lower resolutions and a few other games.

In those lower resolution/quality scenarios, it wasn't 50% faster, but still quite a significant boost in performance at this stage.

This is quite the improvement now on the open-source AMD driver stack for those using the mature Kaveri platform, it's too bad though this change didn't happen years ago for making Kaveri APUs much more capable.

For those curious about the Vulkan versus OpenGL performance on the A10-7870K using Mesa 18.2-dev, I ran some benchmarks there too and you can find all of that data via this OpenBenchmarking.org result file.
