AMD EPYC 7773X "Milan-X" Performance Continues To Impress With Tremendous Opportunity For Large-Cache Server CPUs
Across other new and updated benchmarks since March, the AMD EPYC 7773X continued to impress. Intel's Xeon Platinum 8380 was able to show off its advantages when the software is tailored for Intel's own microarchitecture. Intel's Embree ray-tracing kernels that are part of their oneAPI software effort when making use of the ISPC-optimized path tracer it was able to strike up some wins paired with efficient AVX-512 usage.
The Intel Open Volume Kernel Library (OpenVKL) with ISPC is another example or with their OSPRay software, all part of oneAPI. Though not surprising that for workloads leveraging the Intel Implicit SPMD Program Compiler that there is such advantages, but Intel certainly does have the advantage there of making more (open-source) software ecosystem contributions currently than AMD.
Or when pairing things together with the OSPRay Studio software rather than just benchmarking individual oneAPI components, the AMD EPYC 7773X was delivering significantly better render speeds than the Xeon Platinum 8380 2P.
