The CP2K molecular dynamics software on this EPYC 9755 2P wasn't interesting for raw performance itself in this comparison, but when diving into the power metrics is more interesting in this AMD P-State vs. ACPI CPUFreq comparison:

On average the amd-pstate-epp powersave configuration led to a 908 Watt power consumption for the dual EPYC 9755 processors while the other configurations were at 921~924 Watts during this CP2K benchmark. And that's without sacrificing performance as shown. A ~16 Watt savings in a 2P server is small, but can add up over a fleet/cluster of servers or an entire data center with every bit helping while not sacrificing the performance.

Using the amd-pstate-epp performance configuration allowed for slightly better performance than acpi-cpufreq performance. Similarly, amd-pstate-epp powersave performed slightly better than acpi-cpufreq schedutil for the OpenFOAM CFD software. So there can be some slight improvements to the raw performance too with this transition from acpi-cpufreq to amd-pstate with 5th Gen AMD EPYC.

In some cases like the OpenJDK Java benchmarks there were instances of the amd-pstate-epp powersave configuration yielding better performance than the acpi-cpufreq schedutil default at the same power level, thus confirming AMD's power efficiency benefits of the new driver.
