AMD EPYC 7773X "Milan-X" Benchmarks Show Very Strong HPC Performance Upgrade
With Intel's Embree was another case where the uplift out of the EPYC 7773X 1P was enough to push it ahead of the Xeon Platinum 8380 2P configuration.
It all largely depends upon what workloads are most important to you or most commonly used for how much sense Milan-X makes at this point. Certainly as more CPUs with very large caches become available, more software will become tuned and able to make efficient use of the large caches.
It will also be interesting to see what Linux kernel optimizations and other low-level OS tuning can be performed around large CPU caches.
