Onto some video encode tests starting with Intel's own Scalable Video Technology open-source video encoders. With SVT-AV1 0.5, the dual Xeon Platinum 8280 server came out comparable to the EPYC 7402.

With Intel's other SVT encoders, SVT-HEVC and SVT-VP9, the EPYC Rome performance continued to be quite compelling though not taking full advantage of all the cores/threads available at the higher-end of the spectrum. Even with not scaling to all the threads offered by an EPYC 7742/7502 2P set, the outcome still favored Rome.

Intel's SVT encoders do scale better with the different CPUs compared to say the x265 performance.
