Gigabyte's GV-NX86T256D cooler is black and covers much of the PCB. The area around the SLI (Scalable Link Interface) connector is bare to ensure the SLI bridge will fit if using two of these graphics cards in a dual GPU configuration.

On the rear of the graphics card is a plastic back-frame secured in all four corners. The heatsink is a bit taller than the PCB itself, so be forewarned if you plan to use this in a low-profile SFF PC. Below is a comparison of the coolers on the Gigabyte 8500GT and Gigabyte 8600GT.
