Conclusion:

Compared to some of the other Intel LGA-775 motherboards we have recently tested at Phoronix, the ASUS P5N-E SLI had functioned great with both Linux and Solaris. The only minor issue we had run into was with LM_Sensors which had not properly read some of the sensors. When it came to the performance of this NVIDIA nForce 650i motherboard, the P5N-E SLI had outperformed the ECS NF650iSLIT-A and while the results were extremely close, the ASUS motherboard left the winner.

At about $120 USD this isn't a motherboard for use in a dream machine, but it is a reliable Intel motherboard for use in a Linux gaming or desktop setup where cost is a key concern. You can read more about this motherboard in the Phoronix Forums.
