Looking over our no-load results, there certainly was an admirable difference in the CPU temperature between the lowest frequency (800MHz) and the standard operating frequency (1.86GHz). The change in temperature was 6°C, with about 1°C difference between each of the intermediate levels. As far as the power consumption goes, there was a 9-Watt drop in power consumption when running at the lowest power state, and a 4.027-Watt drop when running off the battery at the lowest state. In addition to idling, we also tested the processor by running CPU Burn-In v1.00 for the same amount of time at each of the different CPU frequency steps. Like the idling, we monitored the battery power consumption, direct power consumption, and CPU temperature.
