Next up, we have some slides from a Volari 8300 Power Point Presentation that was initially viewed during Computex Taipei 2005 but at the time, it was deemed confidential so we were unable to share any of this information until today. From this information, there are a few highlights worth mentioning - eXtreme Cache Architecture, CoolPower, and TrueVideo. Similar to ATI's Hyper Memory and NVIDIA's Turbo Cache for use with their budget graphics solutions, eXtreme Cache Architecture only possess a small amount of onboard DDR video memory and then utilizes a small portion of your shared system memory thus the total graphic memory is computed by the local frame buffer plus the shared memory. This shared system memory is dynamically allocated between 128 and 256MB. For example if you're simply using standard 2D applications on your desktop, only the onboard video RAM may be required but once a 3D application or game is initialized it will dynamically request additional system memory. For the home theatre users or those wishing to tackle your entire system with passive cooling, the XGI Volari 8300 series may be perfect for you with its maximum heat output of approximately 7.5W. XGI's TrueVideo engine features an integrated HDTV encoder, motion compensation/IDCT, de-interlacing, 3:2 pull-down, edge smoothing, and LCD overdrive with a frame-based adaptive algorithm. Other Volari 8300 features include 3rd generation de-interlacing with an object-based adaptive algorithm, bi-cubic filtering, linear and non-linear vertical and horizontal panorama scaling, and 10-bit high precision video gamma correction. As far as the XG47 technical specifications are concerned, the GPU is made using a 0.3µm process, PCI Express 1.0 compliant, 5 ~ 6.9W power consumption, Direct X 9.0b support, OpenGL 1.5, and Longhorn/Vista Aero Express support. Also shared in this presentation was some information concerning the development status of the XGI Volari 8600, which will support Shader Model 3.0 - TrueShader 3.0 and a specially designed memory interface. Also stated were their target speeds for the Volari 8600, 8600XT, and 8600 Mobile at 450/450, 400/275, and 350/300MHz respectively. All variations of the Volari 8600 are based upon the XG45 core. In this content, it's also interesting to note that they have positioned the Volari 8600XT against the NVIDIA GeForce 6600GT and ATI Radeon X700XT and then the Volari 8600 is placed with the 6600 and X700. On the next page, all twenty slides from the Computex presentation can be found.
