A Look At The Windows vs. Linux Scaling Performance Up To 64 Threads With The AMD 2990WX
M-Queens was able to scale well on Windows up to 64 threads while Linux continued offering greater performance. In this test the Windows performance went up by a factor of 10.4x while Linux had a 9.5x difference.
The proprietary IndigoBench renderer on the CPU is another case where Windows did worse at 64 threads than 32 threads while Linux kept scaling fine.
Running Blender with the BMW scene was able to scale on both operating systems to the 64 thread configuration. Linux continued offering better performance.
