Scythe LCD Master
LCD displays have been quite common in gaming systems and workstations, from people modding Sony PlayStation LCD monitors into the front of their case to the more conventional 5.25" LCD units that can now be found at most online retailers. These LCD panels generally report information such as your CPU and system temperatures, CPU usage, RAM usage, the date, and other such general information. Unfortunately, for us Linux users, getting hardware to operate under Linux sometimes isn't as easy as in Microsoft Windows because of a lack of drivers. In some instances, we're able to run these Windows drivers under WINE or find numerous open source driver alternatives, such as MadWifi with providing 802.11a/b/g capabilities for the Atheros Chipset. Earlier this year, Scythe released the LCD Master LM01-GY and LM01-BB. Will the LCD Master operate flawlessly under Linux, reporting helpful information, or more definitively even work under Linux? In this review, we'll be checking out the Scythe LCD Master LM01-GY.
