Serious Sam 2017 with OpenGL showcases just how well the RadeonSI Gallium3D driver has advanced over largely the past year thanks to AMD, Valve, and other Mesa contributors. The Radeon performance on this open-source driver is hitting expectations with the R9 Fury coming in line with the GTX 980 Ti and the RX 580 in line with the GTX 1060. It's also great for those looking at a low-end GPU upgrade how much better the RX 560 continues to do over the RX 460.

Xonotic is largely CPU-bound at 1080p, but was tested largely for reference with the older graphics cards. The results do show that the Radeon driver stack appears to have greater overhead than the NVIDIA Linux driver.

On a performance-per-Watt basis though, the Radeon RX 560 "Polaris Evolved" card does very well.
