The GNU C Library benchmarks show Intel's software work paying off with Intel employing many toolchain developers for ensuring various low-level projects common in the Linux ecosystem are well tuned for their microarchitectures and making use of all instruction set extensions. AMD meanwhile still has just a limited crew maintaining their AMD CPU Linux support where we don't see nearly as many optimization patches or other efforts. In fact, it's mostly left up to partners like SUSE that end up tackling many of the AMD compiler optimizations on Linux.

GNU Octave, an open-source MATLAB alternative, performs well with the Core i9 10980XE.

The context switching performance is much faster on the Core i9 10980XE than with older Intel CPUs lacking the hardware mitigations around L1TF/Meltdown/Spectre.
