Intel Might Be Moving Closer With Their Mesa Tessellation Shader Support
The two extensions still blocking the Intel open-source Linux driver from OpenGL 4.0 compliance is ARB_gpu_shader_fp64 and ARB_tessellation shader. It looks like Intel might be getting closer to landing their tessellation enablement.
It looks like soon Intel could be joining AMD's RadeonSI and Nouveau's NVC0 drivers in supporting tessellation shaders. Besides an uptick in work on the mailing lists and various Mesa Git code landing, last night was at least the defines needed for tessellation stages.
Obviously this doesn't do any good alone yet, but hopefully we'll see the Intel driver's tessellation support materialize for the next Mesa release along with FP64 support. On a related front, the only Intel blocker from OpenGL 4.1 is ARB_vertex_attrib_64bit and then after that it's already cleared the needed changes for OpenGL 4.2 exposure.
