Xfce 4.14 Development Is Focused Around GTK3 Porting

It will likely be quite some time before the Xfce 4.14 desktop environment is released while the main focus this development cycle is on porting to the GTK+ 3.x tool-kit.

Xfce 4.14 isn't focusing on adding new desktop features but just on porting the entire code-base from GTK2 to GTK3. New functionality is being held off until the Xfce 4.16 cycle, but even still, due to limited developers and resources it will likely be a while before Xfce 4.14 is released -- similar to the much-delayed Xfce 4.12.

There is a blog post today on the road to Xfce 4.14. Along with porting the code to GTK3, Xfce will transition from dbus-glib to GDbus, improve naming for icons, replace deprecated widgets, and other changes. Some Xfce code has already been ported to Xfce 4.14, but much work remains ahead.

The tentative road-map is available but doesn't yet pencil in any dates for the different milestones.
