LINUX GAMING
The widely-used, cross-platform Unity game engine is out with their newest feature release.

Unity 2017.2 is the new version under their recently introduced new versioning scheme. Unity 2017.2 features new 2D improvements, support for new XR platforms, better Autodesk/Maya/3DS integration, and more. While Unity is commonly used for 3D games, Unity 2017.2 features new 2D tooling and features. On the XR front there is support for Google's ARCoreSDK and Apple ARKit. This update also offers new performance improvements and optimizations for VR rendering.

On the WebGL 2.0 front there is much work around linear rendering and is supported on Linux as well as Android with Vulkan. Sadly no other big Vulkan / Linux highlights to point out for Unity 2017.2. Also worth mentioning is this is the last release supporting Samsung Tizen/SmartTV.

The lengthy release notes at Unity3D.com cover the many other changes for this feature update to Unity.
