Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 Ships With Experimental Wayland Session
Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 is powered by GNOME Shell 3.16 and packages a majority of the GNOME 3.16 components. Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 replaces Shotwell with GNOME Photos, installs GNOME Music by default now, and has a variety of other changes as outlined via the release notes.
One of the big underlying changes in Ubuntu 15.10 that isn't enabled by default is a Wayland session! If installing gnome-session-wayland, there's now a "GNOME On Wayland" option from the login screen, similar to what's offered by Fedora with their experimental GNOME Wayland session.
While it's great to see Ubuntu GNOME have an experimental Wayland session, it's sad that GNOME 3.16 is used by Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 rather than the GNOME 3.18 packages that offer much better Wayland support. Wayland 1.8.1 is packaged in the Ubuntu 15.10 Wily archive.
