Open-Source ARM Mali T-Series Graphics Move Along
A few weeks back at FOSDEM was a presentation by Luc Verhaegen on the Tamil Driver, which is focused on bringing open-source graphics driver support to ARM's Mali T-Series and is the successor to his former Lima driver for older Mali graphics hardware.
For those that missed out on Luc's presentation in Brussels, he's blogged today about the progress he's made on Tamil and what he's been doing. Luc has been engaging in reverse-engineering Mali T-Series "Midgrad" graphics hardware, building a command stream parser, and coming up with some basic demos to show off his findings.
The next step for Luc is to write a Mesa driver for Tamli / Mali T-Series, which he hopes to base largely on his former out-of-tree Lima Driver, but he hasn't indicated whether he plans to pursue it far enough along for mainline Mesa integration.
Those wishing to find out more about Luc's Tamil driver work can read his blog post. In ending, here's one of his demo videos from FOSDEM showing off his Tamil work thus far:
