Systemd Developers Did NOT Fork The Linux Kernel
Various Phoronix readers have written in this weekend and commented in the forums and elsewhere that systemd developers forked the Linux kernel. This is not the case.
Another Linux web-site this weekend posted news that systemd developers had forked the Linux kernel and included a copy of their kernel source-tree within the systemd Git repository. After hearing this information at first, it took all of thirty seconds to realize that it was bunk and just an early April Fools' day joke or the like.
The mentioned Git repository is on GitHub under the account name systemdaemon and that is registered to some "Ivan Gotyaovoich", who was also quoted in the article as being a systemd developer. This is not the case and he has no commits to upstream systemd nor any real results within Google for that matter. Aside from the "initial commit" of the kernel to the systemd code-base almost two weeks ago, there's been no other activity to that Git repository.
The real systemd Git repository is over on FreeDesktop.org or the systemd GitHub mirror and neither of them contain any fork of the Linux kernel source tree...
