Enlightenment's EFL Continues Dominating In The Embedded Space
Tom Hacohen of Samsung's Open-Source Group is presenting at this week's Embedded Linux Conference about Enlightenment's EFL as a UI toolkit for the embedded world.
For those that haven't ventured deeply into the capabilities of Enlightenment and its Enlightenment Foundation Libraries (EFL), it's a fun presentation for showing off the capabilities in an area otherwise so dominated by Qt and GTK. As a note of disclosure for those that don't know, Samsung's Open-Source Group does employ a number of the key Enlightenment developers.
EFL provides most libraries that embedded developers need to get going, the presentation confirms Enlightenment Vulkan support is coming, and it delivers great Wayland support.
Among the Samsung products using Enlightenment include the Samsung Gear smartwatches, Samsung Z2 smartphone, high-end Samsung and Electrolux refrigerators, Samsung NX500 digital camera, KS9500 smart TV, and a variety of other devices -- including all Tizen powered devices.
So if you've never really looked much at Enlightenment/EFL before for your embedded projects, learn more via this PDF slide deck.
