Most of you have fortunately not had to think about Adobe Flash support in years, but for those still having some old assets in Adobe Flash/SWF format or wanting to relive some old games/entertainment based in Flash, the open-source Ruffle project remains one of the leading contenders for dealing with Flash in 2024 and beyond. Ruffle is a Rust-based emulator for Adobe Flash that continues to be actively developed and supporting more features.

The Ruffle project as an open-source Flash Player emulator continues working well and integrating into modern desktops. The project has published a new status update outlining some of their recent advancements.

Ruffle has been advancing its ActionScript 1/2/3 scripting language support, they are preparing for a long-awaited stable release, tab focusing support, a number of performance optimizations have added, and the Ruffle desktop application has been enhanced a lot this year. The Ruffle browser extension also continues to be improved for those wanting to safely enjoy Adobe Flash content within your web browser.
