Radeon Software For Linux 20.50 Released With RX 6700 XT Support
With the Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards having gone up for sale today (albeit in incredibly short supply), AMD published an updated Radeon Software for Linux driver comprising its AMDGPU-PRO and AMDGPU-Open driver stacks with support for this new Navi RDNA2 graphics card.
The Radeon Software for Linux 20.50 driver was released today with the Radeon RX 6700 XT support being the main change. The RX 6700 XT Linux support was developed in their open-source driver stack under the "Navy Flounder" codename. See our Radeon RX 6700 XT Linux review for benchmarks and driver support details.
This Radeon Software for Linux 20.50 driver also has the Navy Flounder if needing that until the firmware binaries are uploaded to the linux-firmware.git tree, which hasn't yet happened as of writing but should be soon.
The Radeon Software for Linux 20.50 driver also provides full support for RHEL/CentOS 8.3 and has initial support for Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS.
This 20.50 driver doesn't enable the Vulkan ray-tracing support yet for their driver as that apparently isn't coming until the 21.xx driver releases.
This updated Radeon Software for Linux packaged driver designed for Ubuntu 20.04/18.04.5, RHEL/CentOS 8 and 7, and SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 SP2 can be downloaded from AMD.com. See the aforelinked RX 6700 XT Linux review for open-source driver stack details if not wanting or unable to use this packaged driver.
