AMDGPU SI Winsys Support, Other Radeon Changes Hit Mesa Git
It's off to a good Friday so far in Mesa Git for open-source Radeon users.
First of all, there's the initial Southern Islands AMDGPU Winsys support hitting Mesa Git. But before getting too excited, that's just for interfacing with the AMDGPU SI DRM kernel driver support that has yet to land. That AMDGPU Southern Islands (GCN 1.0) support isn't coming until at least Linux 4.9 and when it does it will still be a compile-time experimental option for those wanting to try AMDGPU GCN 1.0 support over the mature Radeon DRM driver.
So the Mesa code will be ready when the AMDGPU kernel changes land. That code landed this morning along with other adjustments for AMDGPU SI in the winsys layer.
Also hitting Mesa Git is SDMA for Sea Islands and then the increased performance for DRI PRIME offloading. As covered recently though, the faster DRI PRIME offloading is contingent upon a few factors including the secondary GPU.
Plus other changes in Mesa Git. If you're a VMware user, there's also a number of SVGA driver changes that landed today too.
