The OpenMandriva Linux distribution crew that traces its roots back to the days of Mandrake Linux is out with a "platinum" release candidate of their upcoming OpenMandriva ROME 22.12 release, which is their rolling release flavor.

OpenMandriva ROME is their rolling release version of the distribution to ship immediately the latest fixes and other improvements. Following the ROME Gold Candidate, the ROME 22.12 Platinum Candidate is now available and features the latest Linux 6.0 kernel. One of the unique aspects of OpenMandriva is that it continues preferring the LLVM Clang compiler over GCC and builds its kernel and other key system packages using Clang by default.

The updated OpenMandriva ROME 22.12 build also features the KDE Plasma 5.26.4 desktop, KDE Gear 22.08.3, and other key package updates. LLVM Clang 15.0.6 is the default system compiler on this distribution build.
