OpenMandriva Lx 2014.2 "The Scion" Pays Tribute To Mandrake

OpenMandriva Lx 2014.2 was released today under "The Scion" codename and this new version is dedicated to Mandriva. OpenMandriva Lx 2014.2 is powered by the Linux 3.18 kernel, ships with the KDE 4.14.3 desktop by default, runs on X.Org Server 1.15.2 and Mesa 10.4.7, and has other relatively updated packages... It's far from a bleeding-edge stack, but the package versions in use have been fully vetted and are on their later point releases.
OpenMandriva's Linux 3.18 kernel variety has a few non-default tweaks with its "njrQL" spin. They say, "This ultra-fast kernel is configured for the best desktop performance, which helps to give a responsiveness you would normally only find in realtime kernels. The nrj mode adds CPU and RCU full Pre-emption and Boost mode. The QL mode gives extra kick by using the BFS CPU task scheduler, the BFQ disk I/O scheduler, UKSM memory management. TOI is included for rapid suspension and resumption from hibernation. The kernel uses multiple cpus when booting live images for faster start-up."
More details on this tribute release to Mandrake can be found via the announcement posted today to OpenMandriva.org.
