OpenChrome X.Org Driver Updated With Better Support For Old VIA Hardware
Kevin Brace, the sole remaining main contributor to the OpenChrome project, has announced version 0.6 of the xf86-video-openchrome driver.
With the OpenChrome 0.6 DDX driver release comes official support for VIA CX700, VX700, and VX800 chipsets integrated TMDS transmitter in order to provide DVI support. This driver release also has initial support for the Silicon Image SiI 164 TMDS transmitter.
Improved with OpenChrome 0.6 DDX is FP re-initialization when resuming from standby, improved automatic detection of display resources, improved X Server stability in the dual monitor mode, and automatic active steering of the display controller channel. This DDX driver release also has several bug fixes.
Kevin has done 270 changes for this driver release and more details on xf86-video-openchrome 0.6 can be found via this mailing list post. Meanwhile, there doesn't appear to be anything new to report on OpenChrome DRM efforts for a modern VIA DRM/KMS driver for the mainline Linux kernel.
