The (No) Phoronix Oktoberfest 2016

Any longtime Phoronix reader knows that Oktoberfest is very special to me, Bavaria is my utopia, and basically the only "holiday" I observe, even though I still would carry out business work and article writing prior to the wiesn each morning... Heck, I haven't truly taken a single day off of work since January 2013 -- nearly four years. It's sad missing out on the great beer and food and catching up with Phoronix readers and friends. On slow news days and weekends, it's usually working on Phoronix Test Suite / OpenBenchmarking.org or working on new benchmarks / Linux hardware tests for the week ahead.
While I have already written a few articles this Saturday morning, this is my last planned one for today, still early in the morning here in Indiana... The barrels have been tapped in Munich for the 183rd Oktoberfest, so I figure I will take the rest of the day off and track down some (real) Oktoberfest beer and other festbier for the remainder of the day. So this shall be the closest I spend to a day off in 2016... And for those in the forums frequently suggesting I should take a small break from work, etc, this is it.
Similar to last year, if any Phoronix readers from the US are traveling to Oktoberfest/Munich in the next few weeks, my offer stands if anyone can mail me any Augustiner festbier, I'll be happy to grant them Phoronix Premium for life. Unfortunately, Augustiner's Oktoberfest beer isn't exported to America. So if anyone in the US manages to get some and can mail it to me, happy to grant you Phoronix Premium for life. Or any other interesting "fest" beer, I'd grant it too, even if it's a really good American micro-brew. Contact me (michael at michaellarabel.com) if interested.
Anyone else, feel free to subscribe to Phoronix Premium to help support the site or make a PayPal tip and today it shall be used for some beers on this day, the closest I'll spend as a holiday this year with most of the day not spent working. Hopefully in 2017 it will be back to the wiesn.
Prost! O'zapt is!
