Nemesys Is Porting Their Games To Linux
Nemesys is not to be confused with Namesys, the former company of Hans Reiser that developed the ReiserFS and Reiser4 file-systems.
The Nemesys Fortix 2 game is self-described as "a reverse turret defense game. The aim in the game is to conquer the castles on each playfield. The castles are protected by turrets and evil monsters (more often than not, dragons!). The player controls Sir Fortix - the epic hero of our first game - who is able to free the cursed land." The game is available via Steam, Desura, and the Mac App Store, among other places. Below is a trailer of this game that's being ported.
Their next game is Airport Control Simulator. "As Air Traffic Controller you will experience the stress, the hectic pace and the satisfaction of landing all of your planes as safely and as quickly as possible. Avoiding collisions at all times, direct planes to their correct landing path and runway, while monitoring their fuel load closely. Your results will be strictly monitored, a score attributed and new airports unlocked – but any accident will result in your immediate firing."
Lastly is, arguably, their most interesting game. Ignite is an arcade racer. A trailer of this game was debuted at last year's GamesCom.
A brief announcement concerning their love for Linux and porting their titles was made in a company blog post. "If you make a game, the users will come. More spcifically, the Linux users... Everyone wants some enterainment on their platform of choice and we would like to deliver to such requsts from the community. We've recieved a lot of inqueries over the past few months with our releases and upcoming titiles from those that are curious about a Linux port. We can finally say, yes! We are going to be porting our titles to Linux to accomadate those who are among the most eager to be gaming on their platform."
