Xamarin Puts Out Its First Mono Release
In early May there was the announcement that Attachmate was letting go of all Mono developers (Phoronix was, again, the first to break the story) following their acquisition of Novell/SUSE. Following that, Miguel de Icaza started a new company to foster future growth of the Mono platform. Last month there was then the hand-off of Mono to Xamarin (Miguel's new company) and this afternoon there is now the first official release of Xamarin Mono.
Mono 2.10.3 is this new release and it's just a point-release targeting various bug-fixes. Worth noting though from this Xamarin build is that Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is now supported, there's a vastly improved WCF stack, and there's many bug-fixes to the Mono garbage collector.
Xamarin's Mono 2.10.3 is also what will be the basis of the new versions of Mono for Android and MonoTouch (for Apple iOS devices).
More information on this new Mono release can be found out from Miguel's blog.
