Portable C Compiler 1.0 Has Been Released

Development on the Portable C Compiler (PCC) began back in the 1970's, but this week version 1.0 of this BSD-licensed compiler was finally released.

We knew since January that PCC v1.0 was approaching, but yesterday -- as not an April Fools' Joke -- it was finally released.

We have benchmarked it a bit in the past, but now that 1.0.0 is out there will be new tests conducted in time. The Portable C Compiler is designed to be much faster than GCC.

The last pre-1.0 release of PCC, v0.9.9, arrived three years ago.

This open-source C compiler can be downloaded from the project web-site.
