3.0-Iveland Beta 3 Advances OpenBenchmarking.org

For those currently being fascinated by the compiler death match taking place within the forums right now, Iveland Beta 3 improves its compiler recognition. Being detected by Phodevi, the Phoronix Device Interface Library used for software/hardware detection in the Phoronix Test Suite, is now support for reporting the Open64 compiler, Tiny C Compiler (TCC), and the Portable C Compiler (PCC).
The OpenBenchmarking.org work though in Phoronix Test Suite 3.0 Beta 3 is where the exciting changes reside. With this new development release, now when uploading test results to OpenBenchmarking.org you are able to optionally (controlled via a user prompt or the ~/.phoronix-test-suite/user-config.xml file) attach your system logs (such as the lspci, dmesg, and Xorg.0.log output) to these results as well.
For those that have enabled the anonymous hardware/software reporting, with this third beta release, things get even more interesting. Besides reporting the usual software/hardware information your accustom to seeing with the Phoronix Test Suite, there is now support for reporting PCI peripherals (such as network adapters) to the OpenBenchmarking.org cloud along with what kernel driver's are used for that support and in turn that can be connected to the existing hardware/software profiles for knowing what kernel/distribution a given peripheral is working on, etc. There is also similar support on the USB side for keyboards, mice, wireless cards, and other devices. This is all going into making the OpenBenchmarking.org search extremely powerful, especially for those looking to utilize its capabilities when hardware shopping. If you didn't read it already, see The Quest Of Finding Linux Compatible Hardware.

Version 3.0 will officially be released next month at SCALE but there may be a Munich preview of PTS3 / OpenBenchmarking.org in three weeks.
