Qt Is Now Drawing On Wayland
Last week in Toulouse I learned just how much interest Intel has in Wayland and the active role they are playing in its development. Wayland and related work to bring it up is not limited to just Kristian Høgsberg, who switched from being a Red Hat employee to Intel during Wayland's development, but Jesse Barnes and other Intel OSTC X developers are also contributing to different areas. Jesse Barnes has been working on the Qt support within Wayland and that's hit a new milestone.
The GTK+ 3.0 support for Wayland is getting into rather good shape while the Qt port was lagging behind for sometime. However, with Intel wanting to use Wayland in MeeGo Touch, the Qt support is necessary since MeeGo's user-interface is written with this tool-kit.
After Kristian recently pushed a fix for vertex attributes in Mesa, Jesse's Qt port began drawing on Wayland and doing so correctly. Jesse has mentioned this on his blog and has provided a screenshot of Wayland running while drawing a Qt demo.
Wayland was also demonstrated at XDS 2010 with its drag-and-drop support, etc. It was also brought up during the Mesa EGL discussion.
