Linux 2.6.36-rc3 Kernel Released
Linus Torvalds has just done a Sunday afternoon release of the Linux 2.6.36-rc3 kernel. With the merge window for the Linux 2.6.36 kernel having closed a few weeks ago, the third 2.6.36 release candidate isn't too exciting unless you were affected by one of the kernel's outstanding bugs.
There's the usual assortment of driver updates along with some fixes that are touching the Radeon and Nouveau KMS/DRM drivers. The list of changes for the Linux 2.6.36-rc3 kernel release can be found at LKML.org.
With Linus heading down to South America next week for LinuxCon Brazil, he won't be pulling any code in the coming days into what will eventually be the Linux 2.6.36-rc4 kernel and it may be over a week before we see this -rc4 tagged. We continue to monitor the Linux kernel performance on a daily basis with a variety of benchmarks at kernel-tracker.phoromatic.com. We also do the same for measuring Ubuntu's system performance on a daily basis at ubuntu-tracker.phoromatic.com.
