Reworking OpenGL ES In Mesa, Gallium3D
In May of last year there were Gallium3D state trackers published for OpenGL ES 1.1 and OpenGL ES 2.0. These were among the first major working state trackers for this new graphics architecture, but in the months since they have continued to receive much affection from a few developers and continue to improve. The OpenGL ES 1.1/2.0 support though may now be reworked by Kristian Høgsberg.
Kristian is looking at how to make the situation better when exposing multiple graphics APIs to Gallium3D and at the same time how to expose this GLES work to the Mesa DRI (non-Gallium3D) drivers. Kristian wants to be able to load one DRI driver and then load multiple GL APIs and then also supporting the OpenGL, OpenGL ES 1.1, and OpenGL ES 2.0 APIs through a single state tracker as each of their functionalities are much the same.
This is still a work-in-progress but he's currently seeking feedback on the matter (so far, no responses), but this mailing list thread can be found on the Mesa mailing list now at FreeDesktop.org after being moved over from SourceForge over the weekend.
