Linux 2.6.28 Kernel Coming For Christmas

The Linux 2.6.28 kernel will be a Christmas release but the 2.6.29 merge window will be opened longer than usual to accommodate any kernel developers being away from their computers over the holiday. Among other additions, the Linux 2.6.29 kernel will introduce kernel mode-setting support.
Today though Linus has pushed out the Linux 2.6.28-rc9 kernel as the last expected test release. There aren't any particularly interesting changes but it's more along the lines of various bug-fixes. The Linux 2.6.28-rc9 release announcement can be read at LKML.org.
