LINUX GAMING
It's been almost ten months since Unreal Tournament 3 was released and there is still no Linux client available. There is not even any time-frame either for when the Linux support will be released. Ryan Gordon has been working with the Unreal Engine 3 under Linux since late 2004 and the UT3 Linux server has been out (albeit a month late). The Linux client port should be ready to go, but it's likely being held up by Epic's middle-ware legal issues.

We don't know whether the Linux version will be released next week, next month, or next year, but we do know that it's still set to include the UT3 game editor. Jeff Morris of Epic Games has commented on the Phoronix Forums this week that the UT3 Linux client patch will include full editor support.

This isn't exactly new news though as since last August we've known UnrealEd would come to Linux as Ryan was working on porting this Unreal Tournament 3 editor that already uses wxWidgets. However, with this entire UT3+Linux fiasco, we didn't know whether the editor was lost in this mess.

Let's hope that the Linux client for Unreal Tournament 3 is released by the game's one-year anniversary...
